Chambers Europe - Europe's Leading Lawyers for Business 2011

This insolvency administrator specialist acts on major cases, including cross-boarder matters. Particular praise is received by name partner Michael Jaffé, a specialist in club insolvencies and litigation. Sources highlight his strenght in this area, especially in the south of Germany, as well as the pure number of cases he has handled.

The Legal 500 - Europe, Middle East & Africa: 2010 edition

Jaffé Rechtsanwälte Insolvenzverwalter is noted for its focus on highly complex insolvency cases. Highlights included Qimonda Holding and Qimonda Solar, Hama-Trucks and Cinterion Wireless Modules. Name partner Michael Jaffé remains the driving force of the practice, however, the addition of two insolvency administrators at the Nürnberg office has brought more breadth to the practice.

JAFFÉ Germany ranked 1st Tier for Restructuring and Insolvency

The Legal 500 - Europe, Middle East & Africa: 2010 edition

Jaffé Rechtsanwälte Insolvenzverwalter has received recent appointments to act on high-profile cases, such as the insolvency of chip manufacturer Qimonda. Michael Jaffé is the best known figure of the team comprising five administrators. Grob Aerospace and Jet Connection Business Flight have been further assignments of the team that does not take instructions prior to insolvency.

JUVE Manual 2009/2010 of Commercial Law Firms (Excerpt)

Assessment:
More than almost any other administrator, Jaffé has managed to focus the resources of its frequently recommended law office on group insolvencies and is very successful through this strategy. With comparatively few, however, highly complex proceedings such as in the case of Qimonda, a listed chip manufacturer, Jaffé enjoys a high reputation throughout Germany. Within the framework of two preceding large proceedings, Jaffé managed the feat of selling the business from an insolvency status. Almost unnoticed, the originally Bavarian law office has expanded to the west of Germany and is - with about 20 professionals - one of the large firms in the niche of insolvency administrator businesses.

Special Strengths:
Large insolvencies with group structures and international involvements.
Frequently Recommended Administrator: Dr. Michael Jaffé

Activities of the Law Firm:
Five administrators at (now) seven locations; the Landshut location has been added. Appoints mainly in Munich and by other Bavarian courts, in Erfurt, Meiningen, and Frankfurt. Lawyers specialized in insolvency law in Frankfurt. Deliberately no consulting services for institutional creditors and no pre-insolvency crisis-related consulting services. Regular - however, not exclusive - cooperation with Görg and Nörr (18 lawyers).

Administration:
Qimonda AG, Qimonda Dresden (Munich), Grob Aerospace (Memmingen), Knaus Tabbert Group (Passau), Jet Connection Business Flight (Frankfurt/Main).

The well-known law office JAFFÉ Rechtsanwälte Insolvenzverwalter is involved in any large case in and around Munich. Since the head office of the law firm is located in Munich, the excellent business is primarily limited to Bavaria, however, still fresh in the memories all over Germany because of the Nici proceedings. The law office does not advise institutional investors such as credit institutes, public authorities, insurance companies, hedge funds, or private equity businesses. In addition, any pre-insolvency cases will not be taken over. Michael Jaffé is recommended.

JUVE Manual 2008/2009 of Commercial Law Firms (Excerpt)

Assessment:
This law office is frequently recommended for insolvency administrations. Its range of current large proceedings is still unmatched. Within the framework of the Kirch insolvency proceedings, altogether EUR 460 million were distributed in 2007; a scheme of arrangement (i.e. an insolvency plan) was implemented for a Nici subsidiary based in Hong Kong. However, in the current lull, the law firm is dependent on its Munich head office; the proceedings chiefly have medium-sized dimensions. The offices in the West German cities of Münster and Cologne do not make any large contributions to appointments.

Special Strengths:
Group insolvencies with international ramifications, insolvency plan proceedings.
JUVE Manual 2007/2008 of Commercial Law Firms (Excerpt)

Assessment:
The law firm, which is frequently recommended, is one of the top addresses for complex and also internationally difficult insolvency proceedings. The Nici proceedings, which were opened in August 2006, comprised about 670 affected jobs and required discussions and arrangements with creditors, suppliers, and customers of European and Asian subsidiaries. The law office managed this challenge in a short period of time. The departure of an administrator at the Münster location is to be compensated, first of all, internally.

Special Strengths:
Group insolvencies with international ramifications, insolvency plan proceedings, labor law.

Frequently Recommended Administrator: Dr. Michael Jaffé ("It is a pity that he did not get BenQ." Comment of a competitor).

JUVE Manual 2006/2007 of Commercial Law Firms (Excerpt)

Assessment:
The large proceedings that are assigned to Jaffé such as the Nici AG proceeding this year clearly show that the exclusive concentration on administration is continued to be rewarded by insolvency courts. In particular, in case of complex insolvencies with foreign involvements, JAFFÉ Rechtsanwälte Insolvenzverwalter  is regularly commissioned and can quickly show successes of its reorganization measures. Even the three other administrators of the law office have established themselves at their locations although they are not notices as much throughout Germany.

Special Strengths:
Group insolvencies, plan proceedings, insolvency labor law.

JUVE Manual 2005/2006 of Commercial Law Firms (Excerpt)

Assessment:
The law firm is frequently recommended and exclusively focuses on administration. Together with the Dr. Beck & Partner it is one of the domineering law offices in Bavaria. Not only the continuous growth but also the rise of the offices where Dr. Jaffé himself does not work directly have surprised the market. Whereas Dr. Jaffé was considered to be the domineering administrator for many years, the three other administrators are now also appreciated. This applies, in particular to Mr. Michels based in Münster.

Special Strengths:
Group insolvencies, plan proceedings.
